Dynasty TV-Series Synopsis
Updated: Sep 25, 2019
The third season on its final chapters will be aired on October 1st, 2019. Dynasty is my favorite TV series at the moment, and I will explain why.
Josh Schwartz, developer of The O.C. and co-developer of Gossip Girl (two TV series that I really like because the glamour and trendy outfits) is the creator of Dynasty along with Stephanie Savage and Sallie Patrick. If you liked watching The O.C. and Gossip Girl, don’t miss Dynasty.
The themes are the same: wealth, power, deception and lots of dramas. Another curiosity is that "Caleb Nichol” (Alan Dale), the main antagonist on The O.C., is Joseph Anders, personal assistant/butler of the Carrington family.
Of course, the main reason why I watch Dynasty is the Haute Couture outfits, especially Fallon Carrington’s (Elizabeth Gillies). The series costume designer Meredith Markworth-Pollack was also the stylist for Gossip Girl.
Surprisingly, Meredith cited Italian influencer Giovanna Battaglia as a real-life reference for the Fallon character. “Giovanna” is the number one fashion influencer on my list; her wardrobe has the style I like. Bataglia has a funny/elegant way of dressing. She combines the colors and wears the chic floral dresses that I love so much.
Fallon follows the same line. She grew up entrenched in the lifestyle of the uber-rich. She is confident enough to expose her sensuality with elegance. Markworth-Pollack also provides her vision of empowered women by deliberately eschewing the woman’s suit and embracing the sensual yet professional wardrobe of elite females. She wanted to tackle and refresh the way professional women dress in the workplace so she can wear a mini skirt and still look fancy and classy.
As I mentioned before, I love Fallon’s floral dresses. In Episode 8 of the second season —“A Real Instinct for the Jugular”—Fallon is wearing a floral print dress by La Doublej. When I saw it, I said to myself: “No matter what, I want that dress; this is a must-have piece for me.” You can find my photo session with the same dress on the link below.
The male characters also have their place in the sun. Markworth-Pollack told People magazine that she was inspired by the boldness and confidence of Atlantean men shopping at Saks and Neiman Marcus wearing their Gucci suits and loafers.
The most stylish is Jeff Colby (Sam Adegoke), another billionaire. The biggest Carrington’s family rival, he mixes business and pleasure, and he is confident enough to wear printed suits but not the grandpa suits.
Instead, he is in fashion with Gucci, Dior and Maison Margiela. Even Michael Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley), the chauffeur, rocks Balenciaga and Maison Margiela. I believe the importance of fashion in Dynasty is clear.
With less than a month of the 3rd season premiere, at least with the preview on Meredith’s Instagram, Fallon and your Dynasty continue following fashion trends with unlimited financial resources wardrobe that makes any fashionista jealous.
There is more to come; expect to see Chanel, Balmain, Gucci, Saint Laurent and more. Let’s just wait for the following chapters!
